A 2 year old cannot be trusted not to approach the dog again-she has a natural curiosity. The dog cannot be trusted to not attack her, again-it has a natural instinct to defend itself. Even if the dog didn't mean to hurt her, he did. If he allows the dog around her again, it's not the dog OR the child's fault, it's HIS. HE is an irresponsible owner and an immature adult.

Have the dog put to sleep. The child has a right to safe access to her home and her grandparent's home.
