 I used to like Dr Phil.. when he was all about tough love. These days it seems he puts the blame on parents for their childs behaviour, gone are the days when it was the right thing to punish unruly kids in any way a parent saw fit, these days the kids are so precious and entitled if a parent deals out rules and punishment they are bad parents. Critisizing the father for trying to restrain an out of control brat is so wrong.

 

 12-year-olds don't need smart phones. Looks like her phone addiction is a source of rage, which I'm noticing a lot with kids. She would be getting an old prepaid Nokia brick with no internet if she were my kid. Phones for kids should be for family contact purposes only.

 Oooh I'm not impressed with Dr Phil lately and these parents came to him for help and all he did was ridicule them and give the brat daughter more ammunition. The moment I lost interest in his 'advice' here was when he blamed the mother for saying the 8 am in the morning comment when that was clearly the daughter. I can almost picture it, mother pops her head in the daughter's room in the morning and asks would she like to go to the beach, daughter loses it because she doesn't want to get up, she's a teenager now, hormones raging etc, to me the mother clearly wasn't expecting the daughter to leap out of the bed and go to the beach at that exact moment in time, she was just suggesting things they might do that day... not right then and there... Dr Phil let this couple down badly, he gave no direction, no advice, nothing, didn't tell them when they had got it right etc and didn't clearly state to the 12 year old child that the 12 year old child needs to pipe down and respect her parents, she's the one assaulting her parents and he never once pointed out that she could be sent to a younger offenders for that behaviour if her parents call the cops on her.
