I very much agree. And I rarely agree with Phil. Though he’s also acting like a kid who’s been abused. So whether it’s one of the parents or an event(s) in his life- I think there’s something there he’s just unable to communicate. It took me so long to be diagnosed with autism. I only made eye contact with my mother till second grade. The meltdowns were classic. Stims, specializes interests, certain sounds or colors “hurt.” Aspie Warning Signs 101, really. I don’t know how “shy” they possibly thought a person could be before something is actually wrong. It took even longer to get the incorrect bipolar diagnosis and medications dropped. And the correct BPD and DID in its place. Everything I actually had trauma based, other than autism. But ASD symptoms like severe anxiety and sensory overload were made worse because of trauma, and repeatedly misdiagnosed. I feel for this kid, so much. Looking back it’s still painful that I was that out of control, and was being parented with cops and psych wards and insane amounts of meds. (I’m all for meds when needed. I’m still on meds. Different types, and a smaller amount. Not okay with being over-medicated. And I was, for a long time.) I just think... this kid being on national TV isn’t fair. Even if they blur him, it’s still not exactly anonymous. It’s a lot of hard work when there aren’t proper diagnoses and treatments from day 1. I didn’t get any kind of treatment till 14, and I didn’t get proper diagnoses till 19... and I’m voluntarily being completely retested a few years later now to remove everything incorrect and all the “traits of” things from before I was an adult and have solely the proper diagnoses on my record. It’s been a long time since I was angry like that, but I remember it. I don’t know if this was Feb of this year, but things can get so much better. Getting a little older helps. I really hope nothing but the best for him.
