Jennifer seeks Dr. Phil's help with her violent 12 year old son, Alex, who is obsessed with violent video games. She shares home videos that show is behavior and says that she fears he will be the next school shooter.

Not only does this kid have a Xbox one, an iphone and a laptop, if you watch the segment where he is gaming, he also has a gaming chair, his own TV, gaming headphones, a stereo system and his mom's card on his microsoft account. This mom is so clueless. No wonder your child is a terror.

Just look at that kid. He is not a bad child. I have 12 year old twins and they just need somebody that shows them how the world works. This mother needs a backbone and a little help but I think if both of them work on doing better they get this under control. 

This kid has issues but they are not created from Violent Video games. I think they make the situation worse, but is not the cause... My son played them when he was young, no issues at all. At least DR phil understands the games aren't going to create him to be a school shooter. He needs mental health treatment - maybe some inpatient treatment. Spanking him won't do any good, he will just be more violent. He needs some serious mental health treatment and a mother with a backbone. 

I agree with some of you and not others. If you're not in that situation yourself, you can't comment because you don't know. You heard mom say she was also abused by dad before he died. Now she is a single mom, working more than full time, unresolved grief, tired, worn out, scared, and yes, also, giving in because its easier. She was probably abused as a child by a parent. And now she is teaching her son it is ok to treat her the same way. She needs help too. Not just a "backbone". She needs "skills" she has never learned or been able to use. Perhaps she should have done that instead of having a child with an abusive husband. And instead of marrying an abusive man. Generational Curses are called that for a reason. But as pointed out, it's not too late for her or the child. And she needs to do it before he's any older or he'll do it till he dies. Or someone else does. And she definitely needs to "clean house" with ALL the guns, most or all of the electronics, etc. and buy flour and eggs with her Paypal account instead of more games. Let him cook. Go outside for fresh air, not a hunt. Get him help now!!!! Before he's just another waste of a human being. Mom you're hiding because you're tired. Get help before you're old, it's too late, or someone dies. Like you.
