Dr. Phil I appreciate your show on opioid addiction. I live in Montana and we have 1 pain management doctor here that has ruined my life. I was in an auto accident Feb 2010. After that And since then we (my doctor and I) tried several combinations of pain meds prescribed by my pain management doctor. Fortunately I can not tolerate anything with Codeine. So my doc has me on a combination of Lyrica, Cymbalta, and a weekly Butrans patch. I want off of these meds so badly and I am willing to trade being in pain for getting off these meds. At this point I am asking my doctor to reduce the dosage of all these meds. What they don’t tell you about Cymbalta and Lyrica that they are highly addictive. I tried getting off my meds on my own but it was too difficult to do alone. My pain management doctor has called me a drug addict. after having major foot surgery recently and my foot doctor prescribed Hydrocodein which I don’t tolerate well so I took minimum (1/2 tablet) just enough to manage foot pain from surgeryThen My pain management doctor accused me of shopping doctors for pain meds. He told me pharmacies have flagged me as a drug abuser and doctor shopping. I am 65 years old, I don’t drive because I don’t feel safe under the influence of these medications, now I am a prisoner in my own home except for doctor appointments and occasional Walmart trips. Very difficult for me to stand or walk for long periods of time. I can’t fly because sitting for long time hurts my back. My brother and inlaws live 3 - 6 hours away depending on airline. I also have gained 50+ pounds as a side effect. I do need some sort of medication to manage my pain but I do feel I could do without at least 2 of these meds. I don’t like feeling like this. My pain management doctor is insensitive, insulting and demeaning! He doesn’t listen. I need help with getting off these meds that are not an opioid. But seems no one sees this as a issue. I want my life back!

This girl is me 40 years ago. I had parents that didn't love me because I was their last ditch pregnancy to have a boy. I was the seventh and last child and a girl, so you can imagine how much my father hated me. It was brutal growing up with these two psychopaths. My father raped five of my sisters and one of them shot herself in the stomach in a last ditch way to keep him off of her. Every time my mother would leave for some of her things, my father would immediately jump on one of my sisters. He never touched me sexually and I think that was because I had a BIG MOUTH, lol, and would have told the world. Consequently, I was the only one he didn't rape. I do think for a period of time when I was little that he did try to get me, but again, my big mouth saved me. I watched all of my sisters have to come to terms with his rapes and it has completely messed them up. He was evil in other ways to me and frequently smacked me around. Once he put his gun to my temple and I could see in his eyes the struggle he had with going to jail for murder. He choked me, strangled me, beat me, knocked me out cold once, and the beating went on. When he died, I cried zero tears. It was more of being able to breathe for a change once he left.
Why the judge?!! This girl says from the beginning that she needs help, that she doesn´t want to be a criminal and she knows EXACTLY why she is behaving this way. She isn´t arrogant or proud about what she has done - she is the most clever and healthy in that family! Poor girl!!:-(
I'm split on this one. The dad said some truths for sure. We are a cry baby society. I agree with Dr Phil that dad is handling his daughter in the wrong way and the daughter as smart and well spoken as she is, she is a manipulator. I pray the family finds the Lord and they get the help they need.

I don’t think people give kids enough credit. They always seem to have a ton of insight and somehow as people get older we get more into denial and have leas and less insight. Maybe due to constant invalidation
Where is the biological father? This man adopted her and has helped raise her. I think the mother is just to weak and lenient. I think a reason a lot of reasons these kids do these stupid things because they are not occupied doing positive things. She has continuously committed crimes and has not really been punish for them. This girl is so manipulative. She know exactly what she is doing. Dr Phil makes me sick some times acting like these kids don't know what they are doing. A lot of them know what they are doing because they do whatever they want regardless of knowing the consequences. I think he is afraid of getting to close to his daughter. Unfortunately, people who have children from another relationship shouldn't get married until their child is 18.
I am just starting this but already the tone of the parents is that they gave birth to some kind of satan spawn and nothing to do with them. Padlocked legs? That's "no nonsense"? Abuse denial. Horrid. But they scapegoat her.
The father has a personality disorder... he is a narcissist. Mean. abusive. I believe the child would be better off with no contact. No unless she can be protected from him and his abuse.
However, I love to watch you Dr Phil. You are so wise and I think like you. I believe your biblical knowledge has given you insight that few Psychiatrists have. Tho you don't talk on a spiritual level now like you did in the beginning of your career on TV, you are awesome in pin pointing what is really going on. You can discern good and evil. I really hope you continue to follow up on some of your families and give us updates. I keep you and your family in prayer. 📖 Thank you for your show, and have learned much on parenting. The fact that this child was so willing to accept that she needs help and time away says volumes about her maturity and intelligence. She's hardly the monster her father makes her out to be. I'm sure she thrived at the ranch, and I hope to god she gets away from them when she turns 18. Chaining up anyone like that is abuse, plain and simple. The 'Dad' should be in prison, and the Mom should have been forced to face some jail time as well, standing by and allowing him to do this to her child. He's the problem, but she let this happen. Give the kid a halfway decent set of parents and she'll pull through.
I almost wonder if this girl wouldn't be better off in foster care if the mother won't leave her husband, or even if she does. Poor kid. She's done some bad stuff, but she's acting out because of his abuse obviously. He fricking cut her hair and chained her up and verbally abused her... and that is just what he admitted to. She seems like a girl who was respectful to staff and seems open to change. She knows what she does is wrong and knows she needs help. Thats pretty rare in a teen.

Why the F doesn’t she have visual aids for his communication? She’s expecting him to talk when using a symbol system would be much less frustrating for the boy. And she asks him too many questions too quickly without giving him processing him. And she should never be talking about meds!!
Most parents I know with non-verbal autistic children used those types of aids for communicating. These days there are even ways to set up an IPad or other computing device for an autistic child to communicate with. I have a young adult son who is autistic and he is verbal so we didn't use aids for communicating. I NEVER EVER would have talked to him the way this mother did to her son. The poor boy probably gets overwhelmed by her when she talks to him.
My best friend is bipolar and isn't "medicated." She takes rhodiola, same, st johns wort, meditated every day, takes omega 3 fatty acids, does light therapy onceba week, sees a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner every two weeks, and once a month she does interpersonal and social rythym therapy. She is able to function like a normal person.
This is an extremely shocking case and is absolutely abuse, the mother is the one who is mentally ill. I fear for these children's safety and I cant believe CPS hasn't removed them from her care. It has munchhausen by proxy written all over it. 50 doctors in order for her to get Clozaril is absolutely shocking. Why has no one stepped in and questioned the mothers real motives? Her new husband seems false, I think he has another agenda. Poor kids. This woman is dangerous and needs to be stopped.

An 11 year old on such powerful adult psychiatric drugs is so insufferable, inhumane and severely damaging on all levels!!! His eyes showed how deeply zonked out he was!!! My son is autistic and this is clearly what Bodhi has as well. My son is 4 and on no medication. I can't believe the meds that Susan is putting Bodhi on. It's sick. She's been medicating him to the point of a stupor since he was 2 or 3. So sad.
As a person who has brain damage (not from medication) but another reason there son can get permanent brain damage with the medication he is taking and the amount because I used to take pills and caused more damage unfortunately but there son clearly has autism my nephew has autism and he's like there son and those meds he's taking are triggering seizures poor guy :( I have epilepsy and my meds help but a person that doesn't have epilepsy (there son ) the meds he's taking will trigger it

I am a mother of 5 kids...4 are disabled. I worked fulltime $2,500 a mth and received disability for all 4 $2,986. My kids were fully provided for. They received all they medically needed. Today, my 2 oldest are fulltime employed, both are autistic. Another son moved out with his brother, two houses down. My daughter is having a hard time finding a job. So far 2 are off disability which is not meant forever. It's hard, we are working on getting her a job.

The only difference is that at the end he explained to everyone that he basically was just shot gunning general statements until something stuck and then went from there and that they should all be aware that psychics are usually just scams.

Everyone has different understandings of what a struggle is. Stop coming at them and throwing all these negative comments out here. They’re not forcing you to watch this. This is their journey. You’re either here to watch it and see an insight on what they went through and how they got to where they are or just close off the video. Some of these comments are so damn ridiculous. i starved and binged for years taking up to 30 laxatives a day,long story short aged 42,6 months ago i needed a live saving lidney transplant which thankfully my dad donated. this started at 20,id spend money on slimming pills off the internet,i already had type 1 diabetes which i didnt control well,my bloodsugars would always read high,awful place to be.now i would never do anything to put my dads kidney at risk.can never afford to take that risk again,i hope she gets well
Legitimate question here; why do so many anorexics wear revealing clothes in public? I’ve had friends who have done it too and I don’t understand. They say they hate their bodies but seem to take a perverse delight in wearing singlet and/or crop tops and shorts. I assume that’s another symptom of the illness.
I suffered from a pretty severe eating disorder about 7 years ago, and it is still something I mentally battle to this day. I am physically and mentally pretty healthy right now, but this is not a disease that just goes away. It also makes you legitimately crazy and insufferable to be around. I have memory gaps of the time i was sick, and my stomach has never been the same. I am SEVEN YEARS into recovery, and I still have to mentally recognize my hunger cues. It’s pretty bad to live like this, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Watching this makes me sort of thank my dad for ignoring me and making me move out on my own. For two years I couldn't breathe it seemed, my mom had committed suicide. Obviously I suffered. So control with food became my "go to." I called Anorexia my first drug of choice. I did find others so I could enjoy pizza and beer like a normal person. Ha, ha, ha. Right?
It was having a baby that changed me. He was a higher power than myself. I had some kind of wisdom, he wouldn't eat like I wanted him to, because he never saw me eating. I changed for my baby. I also ate when pregnant with that baby.
It was not until recovery from drugs and alcohol I learned I was always searching for the sense of control.
Now, I see this show and say; There but for the grace of God go I! A teeny tiny minute particle of faith kept me going. Now it fully sustains me. I have to take enzymes for my digestive tract's health and thus allow myself to eat regular meals and simple snacks. I pray over my meals. And then cuss like a sailor.

She needs more medicine. Not the child. I have two autistic children one who is nonverbal. Yes they do have behavior issues sometimes. Never ever has a Doctor ever suggest medication. In fact when I did not know better I asked because I didn't want that for my child and the Doctor said absolutely not. We don't recommend that for children.

I watched the documentary years ago about Jani and thought wow these two parents are absolutely devoted to their children and their emotional mental and physical health! They absolutely are not the same people that were in that documentary. She’s slowly losing her mind (IN MY OPNION). Maybe after carding for two special needs children for years has caused her serious mental health issues herself! I pray for both those children’s future their physical, emotional and mental health!!
Here's a thought; stop trying to work out what is wrong with the kids and diagnose the mother instead. She clearly needs urgent mental health treatment. She represents a real danger to those kids. Think carefully who you have kids with!

My husband always left the property his dad gave him in his father's name. So, after 30years of us being together he decided he was done. After I was treated similar to the way this lady has been treated, he had his dad sell our home and property. i starved and binged for years taking up to 30 laxatives a day,long story short aged 42,6 months ago i needed a live saving lidney transplant which thankfully my dad donated. this started at 20,id spend money on slimming pills off the internet,i already had type 1 diabetes which i didnt control well,my bloodsugars would always read high,awful place to be.now i would never do anything to put my dads kidney at risk.can never afford to take that risk again,i hope she gets well
I can't say I blame the sister for how she feels. The anorexic had
completely monopolized every last bit of attention from the parents.
The whole family exists only to serve her needs. Hopefully she will be
successful at turning herself around with whatever help Dr. Phil
provides.
I've been anorexic since I was 5 years old - one of my earliest memories is refusing to even pick up a tray in the cafeteria in 1st grade. My father called me 'lard ass' ever since I can recall; he would weigh me on the scale on the loading dock of the office building he worked in. It was so humiliating!!! I was allowed to weigh 100# for the first 5 feet, then 5# per each inch above that. So I was supposed to be 110 pounds maximum. I was a gymnast as a child, so I had a lot of muscle. (For me anything under 120# I look like Skeletor.) At 135# I'm a size 4; you can imagine at 110# there were many MANY notes sent home. Even my feet couldn't be big - my shoes were bought up to a size 5 only. There was (is) no such thing as 'too skinny', and I can't tell you how many times I was flat out denied food when I was at my Dad's house, told how fat I was, asked 'Did you lose weight? Look behind you.', etcetera. I still struggle with my weight, and I turned 50 in October of last year. My Father died the following month after a verbally abusive phone call that will forever remain the last time I heard his voice. Never ever tell a little girl she's fat. Ever. I still go days at a time without eating, it has become my normal after decades of starving myself.

Her parents need to help her by avoiding their guilt and doing what needs to be one. As for her sister, I think she doesn't have the bran capacity to realise how bad and harmful anorexia is; IT IS NOT A CHOICE, this is why it requires serious help from psychologists and physicists. This woman is obviously suffering because of something, something bad has quite obviously happened to her...NOT A SOUL ON EARTH CHOOSES TO DO THIS!! It's not weakness, it's not attention seeking, it's not revenge, it's her brain literally not allowing her to eat or get better. She is miserable because of it, and she knows it's because of Anorexia, it is not her fault. What would help her is a proper supportive family who knew what they were dealing with, also a sister who did not wish death on her, or a sister who constantly reminded her or what a piece of sh*t she is!! That sister should be ashamed of herself, essentially all because she, a fully grown woman, doesn't get enough attention from mummy and daddy - there are better ways to deal with that than hating your sick sister! - Last bit, she is not the manipulater, the Anorexic inside of her brings out all these unwanted qualities! - These people have NO idea how hard it is for her, none of them have any empathy, and they wonder why she may not be getting better. Awful unsupportive family!
I lost 12 stone in 12 months. I also had a grand mal seizure that lasted
7 minutes. I was extremely lucky to not have any brain damage.
Disorders like this eat you alive. They change your brain and how you
think. Nobody and I mean NOBODY could say or do anything to stop me. It
can happen to ANYBODY. I was considered obese when the last episode
started which proves a point. It’s very difficult to explain how badly
this effects you unless you’ve been through it. But it’s hell. And OMG
the cold. I just couldn’t deal with it. The red flag warnings are
extremely forthcoming and correct.

The only time in my entire life I’ve betrayed my morals is when I was sick with an eating disorder. I am a painfully honest person naturally, but if i could be alone with my disease, i could convince you of anything. I took in a homeless woman because of weather conditions, a hurricane approaching. Only problem, once it passed, she wouldn’t leave. She sat on my couch, watched TV, made a general mess, did nothing to help, messed up the bathroom. I had to put her collection of stuff on the lawn and change the locks. After a threat of violence, I collected her stuff, brought it to a church that was helping her, and got an order of protection. After that I never heard from her again. It sounds by this story that I got off lucky!
When you're a foster parent it's your job to keep those children SAFE!!! They are already delicate more than other children. Some have been molested in their birth parents care and often in any foster homes they may have been in before they we're given to a decent foster family. She did fail by bringing in a stranger she knows nothing about! I have witnessed this too often. This woman could have abused the kids she had and lost custody of. Should have found another building to help out the homeless or better yet use those CHURCH BUILDINGS lol Provide canceling and resources as well as job training. Depending on each person's needs

As someone who actually has a narcissistic, sociopathic step father, I can tell SHE’S the one with the mental issues here. Like her, he wants to make my mom miserable and doesn’t care about me or my younger brother, not providing for either of us. He cares more about hurting her than he does actually getting custody of my brother. He does NOT parent, yet he plays victim and lies at every turn.
I think he refused the polygraph because the allegations of domestic violence are true and he didn’t want that on national television. As it stands now, he can deny it. Even though he went to jail he can still say she’s a liar.
She keeps referring to her children as hers but no matter what they are both of theirs. I will say I was not expecting her to pass the lie detector test! And he definitely isn't helping his cause by not taking it and leaves me thinking that some of what the children are saying may be true! I hope for those children's sake they take Dr Phil's help!

It was clear this was set up to make the mom look bad. Do I think she's done everything right? No, of course not. That's obvious. However, that father sat up on that stage, acting all calm with Dr. Phil backing him and portraying him in a good light. Dr. Phil focused on how high the volume of traffic was on his street yet says nothing about him avoiding [2] lie detector tests (1 there, 1 for the courts) and mom highly passing!? Then when you look at even one single text message (mind you, right after he says "I haven't gotten mad since I was younger." Then follows with an explanation), you SEE that's a LIE and the anger he's hiding!! 1, people who over explain are usually being dishonest and are trying to cover or divert. 2, it's easy to look good, sitting on a stage for less than an hour (again with the host backing you), in front of millions. It's when it's behind closed doors that you see true colors. I also have to say, I've worked with MANY children in cases such as this and I do not believe those kids were coached. When children continuously have to repeat an event to numerous people, the stories do become more "robotic" and "rehearsed". That needs to be taken into account. I truly pray this father gets help for his anger and is watched closely by DCFS. As well as the mom getting counseling to move past her feelings for him. I believe she does still harbor them and it may also be getting in the way, in the eyes of the system. They may not be taking her concerns seriously because they believe it's about vindictiveness. She is a "mama bear" and it may not be easy to see clearly when it comes to protecting them. Her actions can cause great damage and consequences going forward. I pray for these precious children. They need a healthy relationship with both parents!
It's hard when you have been abused in a relationship but kids must come first. My ex has 2 of 5 kids every other weekend, 2 refuse to go and he respects their decision and knows he has to earn their trust and prove he changed (they are teens) and 1 child too young yet and he is happy to wait because he still sees her when he sees teens. It took a while but sorted without courts.
It’s ridiculous that this woman clearly has a Father that cares for his children and she is ruining his relationship with those kids ! It pisses me off when there are so many dead beat Dads out there! BTW- Dr. Phil never explained why this Father refused to take the polygraph.

Dr. Phil I appreciate your show on opioid addiction. I live in Montana and we have 1 pain management doctor here that has ruined my life. I was in an auto accident Feb 2010. After that And since then we (my doctor and I) tried several combinations of pain meds prescribed by my pain management doctor. Fortunately I can not tolerate anything with Codeine. So my doc has me on a combination of Lyrica, Cymbalta, and a weekly Butrans patch. I want off of these meds so badly and I am willing to trade being in pain for getting off these meds. At this point I am asking my doctor to reduce the dosage of all these meds. What they don’t tell you about Cymbalta and Lyrica that they are highly addictive. I tried getting off my meds on my own but it was too difficult to do alone. My pain management doctor has called me a drug addict. after having major foot surgery recently and my foot doctor prescribed Hydrocodein which I don’t tolerate well so I took minimum (1/2 tablet) just enough to manage foot pain from surgeryThen My pain management doctor accused me of shopping doctors for pain meds. He told me pharmacies have flagged me as a drug abuser and doctor shopping. I am 65 years old, I don’t drive because I don’t feel safe under the influence of these medications, now I am a prisoner in my own home except for doctor appointments and occasional Walmart trips. Very difficult for me to stand or walk for long periods of time. I can’t fly because sitting for long time hurts my back. My brother and inlaws live 3 - 6 hours away depending on airline. I also have gained 50+ pounds as a side effect. I do need some sort of medication to manage my pain but I do feel I could do without at least 2 of these meds. I don’t like feeling like this. My pain management doctor is insensitive, insulting and demeaning! He doesn’t listen. I need help with getting off these meds that are not an opioid. But seems no one sees this as a issue. I want my life back!
