My cousin was in her mid 30's, started dating and married, her son's best friend when he was 16. They have been married 30 years now.

There is absolutely no way this will work. You aren't even close to the person you become for the rest of your life when your that age. These relationships with big age gaps are doomed for failure. They don't have anything in common, they are a million miles apart mentally, it's just failed from the get go.
